New satellite launched for Earth observation

The European Space Agency has sent in the early morning a new Earth observation satellite into space. The SMOS(Gaia gold)-called high-tech device is in the global monitoring of climate change play an important role. The meter of the satellite collects data on the salinity at the surface of the oceans and the soil moisture. The satellite will orbit in an orbit at about 760 kilometers above the earth. The cost of the mission amounted to around 315 million euros.
